Wray School District (WSD) is a rural school district located on the eastern plains of Colorado in Yuma
County (7 miles from the Colorado/Nebraska boarder). WSD pursued a BEST Grant in 2018 for the
renovation and consolidation of their PK-12 district at two locations onto a single site. WSD was awarded
a BEST Grant for $19M contingent upon the passing of a matching bond for $15.5M.

DCS was brought on board as Owners Representative in Summer 2018. We assisted the district in
managing a successful bond campaign for the required matching funds that passed in November 2018.
The primary objective of this project was to consolidate the Middle School students who had been
attending Buchanan Middle School to the elementary and high school campus. The BEST Grant & Bond
required the old Buchanan Middle School to be demolished. The project scope included multiple additions
totaling 54,042 square feet to accommodate the now “Junior High” students and create more shared
space for all grade levels. The scope also included a 111,823 square foot remodel to the existing high
school and elementary school spaces including fire and life safety upgrades, HVAC upgrades (for energy
efficiency), technology upgrades, architectural finish upgrades and creating better learning spaces for
new program needs.

DCS had worked directly with WSD over a two-and-a-half-year period to successfully manage each
aspect of the design and construction process. We managed the solicitation and procurement process of
the architect, Wold Architects and Engineers and the CM/GC, Fransen Pittman General Contractors,
among other vendors. The multi-phase construction project of the new facility was completed at the
beginning of 2021.
