Gym, Kitchen, Cafeteria/Commons Addition:
$3.4M bond funded
Houston Construction Co.
Completion: August 2015
Beginning in 2014, DCS provided owner’s representative services for Swallows Charter Academy (SCA) in Pueblo West, CO. The project consisted of an 18,000 SF metal building, new wing addition that houses a high school gym with supporting locker rooms, exercise/weight room, a full-service kitchen and cafeteria/commons space. The addition opened in August 2015.
In 2018, DCS guided SCA with preparation of their master plan in pursuit of a BEST Grant to replace existing modular classrooms with a new classroom addition. SCA was successful and was awarded a $20M BEST Grant to construct Phase II. The project consisted of a new 45,700 SF two story K-8 addition. The addition achieved LEED Silver certification as a high-performance school building. Project objectives addressed a very aging, deteriorating modular complex with significant security concerns. The new facility provides a highly efficient building that is twice the square footage of the previous modular footprint, yet will yield lower energy costs.
DCS provided full, customary Owner’s Representative services overseeing the design and construction process from inception through occupancy.
