Roots Elementary is a community-supported public charter school in Northeast Park Hill that opened its doors to 100 K-1 scholars in 2015. The school welcomed additional students with the completion of Phase I of their new building in the fall of 2016, and they are already planning for Phase II.

Roots is the product of over three years of rigorous design work, drawing on best practices from high-performing schools around the country, cutting edge technology, and an innovative use of time and space that finally puts students at the center of their education.

Roots Elementary “knocks down the walls” of the traditional classroom and leverages great educators and cutting-edge technology to allow students to progress largely at their own pace, learn in the modality that is most effective for them, and enrich the core academic program in ways that ignite their intellectual curiosity. This philosophy is best embodied in The Grove, a large, open space inside of the school where students work on a wide array of personalized projects.
