Community Leadership Academy

DCS staff provided owner’s representative, as well as program and project management services for three buildings on two sites for the Community Leadership Academy charter school system located in Commerce City. The project involved two sites within Commerce City, and spanned three distinct phases of development, designed specifically to support the school’s planned growth and fit within a defined, approved financing structure. DCS staff was called upon to successfully put CLA’s original East 69th Avenue & Holly Street school project back on track, for school opening and project close-out. As a result of the success of this assignment for the owner, DCS staff was then retained to open CLA’s ensuing middle school and high school campus, the Victory Prep Academy, located at East 57th Place and Quebec Parkway in Commerce City.

At Victory Prep Academy, DCS staff was called upon to provide more comprehensive owner’s representative, program and project management services from the project inception and initiation. This included procuring, assembling and directing an architectural and CM/GC design team that best suited the owner’s vision of the campus, as well as, the project budget and schedule requirements.

In addition, DCS worked directly with the Commerce City Planning Department, South Adams Water & Sanitation, South Adams Fire Protection and the Colorado Department of Education and State Building Department for all project reviews, permits, approvals, entitlements and agreements. For the six-acre Victory Prep campus, DCS also served as the project civil engineer for site design and coordination. DCS was able to work successfully with the City to make this a vital infill project within the city core and existing neighborhoods, near Adams County Head Start. This positioned Victory Prep to serve important city growth at Victory Crossing immediately to the east and northeast.
